The interactive digital map locates all of the known and verified interracial violence that occurred during the Red Summer including race riots, lynchings, near riots, forced expulsions and similar events. Every marker on the map can be clicked on for more information about the violence that occurred there.

How to use the map: Using the legends along the top of the digital map, you can sort riots by size, type of event, region, motivating causes and other categories to compare the events. Use the ‘Hide/Show All’ option in the legend box between searches to clear the map and only see the category you are selecting.
